A two-year, rotational program for graduate students that provides experience in planning, finance, general management and administration and facility operations.
The Port Authority’s Leadership Fellow Program is a distinguished program for leadership and public service in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan region. This two-year rotational program offers Port Authority Fellows invaluable on the job experience in several business functions such as planning, finance, security, facility operations, human resources, and much more.
Leadership Fellows will be involved in about 4 rotational assignments that are designed to build a strong foundation of business acumen, adaptability, and knowledge of Port Authority operations. The breadth and depth of these experience are critical in preparing the participants to be future leaders within the Port Authority.
Rotational assignments coupled with an agency orientation, classroom training, coaching by senior management and the Fellows’ commitment will ensure a valuable experience. After successful completion of the program, Leadership Fellows will be considered for key positions in areas such as facility management, finance, planning, project management, or related business functions.
We are seeking dynamic candidates who are flexible and adaptable, committed to quality public service, and enthusiastic about experiencing all the Port Authority has to offer. Candidates must demonstrate excellent problem solving, analytical, quantitative, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation and political acumen.
We begin recruiting for the Leadership Fellow program in mid-September and our application deadline is usually in mid-November. Late applications are not accepted. First round and second round interviews take place in January and February and we make offers in March. Each new Leadership Fellows cohort begins in July. This timeline is subject to change.
