Airport Operations Services Supervisor

Responsibilities

LaGuardia Airport - Communications Coordinator (CC) and Wildlife Hazard Management Supervisor.  Stationed in the Operations Control Center, the CC performs important monitoring, reporting, decision-making, coordinating, and communications functions with respect to the following operating, safety, and security systems:  Emergency Call Box; Public Address & Audio-Visual Paging systems; High Speed Notification System (HSNS); Fire Alarm Display system; Proximity Lightning Warning System (PLWS); customer advisory (Info-Alert) system; Operations Network (OPSnet), and airport Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) monitoring.  The CC is the Operations liaison for customer, airline, and tenant inquiries and service requests.  When assigned as the Wildlife Supervisor, the FS-3 is responsible for overseeing the airport's 14 CFR Part 139 mandated Wildlife Hazard Management Program; participates in Foreign Object Debris/Damage (FOD) control and airport security programs; and may conduct Non- Movement Area driver training classes, assists with aeronautical construction, or performs various other aeronautical functions, including leading snow removal teams on the aeronautical operations area.

Newark Liberty International Airport - Aeronautical Operations Unit and International Facility.  In Aeronautical Operations, under the supervision of the Airport Duty Manager, the FS-3 is required to perform duties involving the FAA Part 139 airport self-inspection program with an emphasis on Wildlife Hazard Management and Control, AOA Driver Training Instructor, aeronautical construction, direct supervision of Airport Operations Agents and Senior Airport Operations Agents, and various other aeronautical functions including leading snow removal teams on the aeronautical operations area. In the International Facility, under the supervision of the Terminal B Duty Manager, the FS-3 is responsible for supervising overall terminal operations including supervision of contract staff, monitoring and supporting operations at departure level check-in counters, gate areas, security checkpoints and outbound bag rooms; monitoring the Immigrations and Customs Hall operation to facilitate efficient passenger flow, coordinating access to the sterile corridor for passenger arrivals and departures to ensure regulatory compliance, supervising contractor snow removal activities and assigning and coordinating inbound baggage belt operations in the Customs Hall and inbound baggage room to ensure efficient delivery of inbound baggage. 

John F. Kennedy International Airport - Under the supervision of the Airport Duty Manager, the FS-3 is required to perform duties involving the FAR Part 139 airport self-inspection program.  Airside and landside duties include, but are not limited to Wildlife Hazard Management and Control, Construction Site Safety Observer, performing airfield inspections and escorts, supervising Port Authority and/or contractor staff with airfield snow removal activities, assisting Transportation Unit Operations Group Supervisors with supervising the parking lot revenue control and busing contracts, and analyzing staffing requirements and scheduling.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualification to be considered eligible for this position:
•    Must have three (3) years full-time paid aviation / airport facility operations work experience
•    Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
•    Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a shotgun permit upon appointment to the position

•    All applicants that meet the above qualifications must also be qualified on a Entry-Level Assessment (ESA) test


 

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:
•    Knowledge of, and ability to apply, the standards of 14 CFR Part 139 Certification of Airports and ability to successfully complete annual recurrent FAR 139 training as required by the FAA
•    Knowledge of Air Traffic Control (ATC) procedures and instructions
•    Ability to communicate with ATC via radio using proper phraseology
•    Knowledge of safety principles with demonstrated experience in taking appropriate action to address unsafe conditions
•    Ability to effectively communicate both written and oral instructions
•    Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills working with internal and external staff, customers, tenants, and outside agencies
•    Knowledge of Airport Rules and Regulations and ability to enforce same, including issuance of Breach of Rules (BOR)
•    Familiarity with the Aviation Department's Customer Care Airport Standards Manual and ability to comply with the customer service related responsibilities outlined therein, as well as an ability to encourage and a willingness to enforce such compliance among other airport employees
•    Knowledge of the Airport Security Program and ability to enforce security standards
•    Ability to drive a vehicle on the Aeronautical Operations Area
•    Familiarity with passenger terminal operations
