The Port Authority offers paid internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world.

The Aviation Department is looking for an intern to join their team in the La Guardia Landside Operations unit! Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist the Supervisor, LaGuardia Customer Experience (LGA CX) in planning, organizing and executing employee recognition and customer appreciation events
• Assist Supervisor, LGA CX in implementing directives and programs from the Aviation Department’s Chief Experience Officer and Aviation Customer Experience unit
• Perform terminal checks and field inspections as needed to ensure a high level of customer experience and reduce customer pain points
• Communicate with customers, airport partners, tenants and an array of Port Authority staff at various levels
• Serve as the Landside point of contact for all LGA website information updates and coordinate updates with central Aviation Customer Experience staff
• Use Salesforce CRM software to track and respond to customer correspondence emails/letters
• Coordinate Landside’s contribution to PA News & LGA Weekly Highlights newsletters

About the Aviation Department and the LaGuardia Landside Operations Unit:

The Aviation Department is responsible for managing one of the most dynamic airport systems in the world, comprising LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy, Newark Liberty, and New York/Stewart airports. In addition to meeting the challenges of day-to-day operations, the Aviation Department is committed to being a world-class operator of world-class airports and has undertaken an ambitious and unprecedented redevelopment and airport improvement program which will position our airports to thrive well into the 21^st century.

Nowhere is this commitment to world-class airports for our customers more apparent than at La Guardia Airport (LGA). At LGA, we are building an $8 billion, entirely new 21st-century airport while maintaining full operations for over 30 million passengers each year. When the dust settles, LGA will be the first new U.S. airport in more than 25 years.

The mission of LGA’s Landside Operations Unit is to provide for a seamless customer experience as customers navigate through a new and improved LGA. We do this by managing LGA’s parking, taxi and busing operations, and partnering with industry partners such as the airlines, terminal operators, public transit, for-hire, shared-ride and limo operators, and the rental car community to make sure that every step of the customer journey is handled with excellence, safety and ease of use in mind.

Qualifications

• Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• We are seeking interns who are talented, driven, and have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region.
• We welcome applications from a diverse range of university disciplines and concentrations.
• Successful candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication, research, and applicable technical skills.

 Desired

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Valid driver’s license

Format

• This internship is expected to be hybrid, meaning it will be 50% in-person and 50% virtual
• The breakdown of in-person and virtual days is subject to change based on airport operational needs.

Location

• When in-person, the internship location is LaGuardia Airport.

Days

• This internship is expected to be full-time (5 days per week) when school isn’t in session and part-time (2-3 days per week) when school is in session

Duration

• This internship is expected to last until further notice.
