Responsibilities

The Port Authority offers paid summer internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world.

Assignments include hands-on projects to cultivate technical, writing, communication and team-building skills. The diversity of our businesses creates a variety of opportunities for students to gain exposure to the work of a first-class public agency

 

The Comptroller’s Department is looking for a summer intern to join their team in the Accounts Payable unit! Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Assisting in Agency Vendor Invoice Management Project tasks related to Electronic Invoicing.
  • Assisting in Citi Payment Exchange Project and associated enrollment of existing and new vendors for ACH Payments.
  • Assisting in continued cleanup of Vendor Master Files, GR-IR, SE, and PR Report analyses.
  • Assisting in task related to expense & payments analysis & the monthly closing process
  • Assisting in processing Construction Contract Payment Applications.
  • Payment documentation research and other divisional assignments

 

About the Comptroller’s Department

As a reporting Department to the Chief Financial Officer, the Comptroller’s Department is a team of dedicated professionals who ensure the accuracy of the Port Authority’s finances. As part of the Comptroller’s Department team, you will gain insight and experience surrounding the agency’s financial structure and internal control processes as well as knowledge of the operations of our various lines of business, giving you extensive opportunities for a long-term career at the Port Authority.

 

Qualifications

  • Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program for the upcoming Fall 2022 school semester.
  • We are seeking interns who are talented, driven and who have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region.
  • We welcome applications from a diverse range of University disciplines and concentrations.
  • Successful candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication, research, and applicable technical skills.

 

Desired

  • Demonstrated excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite Office.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Accounting knowledge and Business machine usage.

 

 

 

This will be a hybrid internship opportunity, meaning that it will be virtual and in-person throughout the summer.

 

*This internship is expected to be a full-time internship lasting 12 weeks.
