The Port Authority offers paid summer internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world.

The Planning and Regional Development department is looking for a summer intern to join our team to help observe and study how public space is used in one of the world’s busiest transit hubs.
The Port Authority Bus Terminal has heavily peaked flows of passengers in the morning and evening, a regular flow of long-distance passengers throughout the day, and local residents, workers, and visitors who use or pass through the building for various purposes. The selected intern will help refine our research questions and methods, and delve into the substantive work to develop an understanding of how the public spaces are used by such a wide range of people.
Specific responsibilities will likely include, but are not limited to:
The intern will be integrated into the daily work environment of our team, and will be assigned additional tasks as needed to support other studies and interagency planning work.
