Port Authority of NY & NJ Engineering is an award-winning national leader in innovative planning, design, and construction of the most critical links of regional and national transportation infrastructure spanning New York and New Jersey.
We are recruiting for our distinguished Engineering & Architecture Associates Program. This is a two-year rotational program designed for exceptional students receiving their degree in Fall 2021 or Spring 2022. Associates spend their first year rotating across Port Authority facilities completing a series of dynamic work assignments. In their second year, Associates begin working in their permanent assignment. Responsibilities will include supporting the delivery of an ambitious 30+ billion-dollar Capital program at some of the most constrained and busiest transportation facilities in the world, working on mega-projects such as the Port Authority Bus Terminal Replacement, EWR, JFK and LaGuardia Airport redevelopment efforts, Restoring the George Washington Bridge Program, Replacement of the Lincoln Tunnel Helix, PATH expansion to EWR, and the Wharf Replacement Program.
The ideal candidate will be expected to have quality Engineering experience and an innovative, industry-leading, “can-do” mindset to support the Port Authority’s aggressive commitment to continue to lead the Engineering industry. As an Associate, you would have frequent opportunities to work alongside seasoned professionals helping you develop your professional credentials while giving you the opportunity to see "the big picture" of transportation infrastructure. Associates also have numerous educational and professional development opportunities, trainings, mentoring programs, and frequent opportunities to work alongside senior management. We are currently recruiting for someone to join the program for the Geotechnical discipline:
Geotechnical Engineers design, shallow spread footing and mat foundations, deep foundations on driven piles, drilled caissons, and drilled minipiles, sheet pile walls for bulkheads and temporary support of excavations, retaining walls, flood protection walls, slope stability analyses, and surcharge designs for soft ground conditions.
Applicants must have a completed Masters Degree in Geotechnical Engineering at the time of hiring, or completion of four (4) courses in soil mechanics/foundation design with current enrollment in a Masters Degree program for Geotechnical Engineering with an estimated completion date within two (2) years of hiring. The Masters Degree or Masters Degree program shall be from an accredited college or university.
