We are recruiting for our distinguished. This is a two-year rotational program designed for exceptional students receiving their degree in Fall 2021 or Spring 2022. Associates spend their first year rotating across Port Authority facilities completing a series of dynamic work assignments. In their second year, Associates begin working in their permanent assignment. Responsibilities will include supporting the delivery of an ambitious 30+ billion-dollar Capital program at some of the most constrained and busiest transportation facilities in the world, working on mega-projects such as the Port Authority Bus Terminal Replacement, EWR, JFK and LaGuardia Airport redevelopment efforts, Restoring the George Washington Bridge Program, Replacement of the Lincoln Tunnel Helix, PATH expansion to EWR, and the Wharf Replacement Program.

The ideal candidate will be expected to have quality Engineering experience and an innovative, industry-leading, “can-do” mindset to support the Port Authority’s aggressive commitment to continue to lead the Engineering industry. As an Associate, you would have frequent opportunities to work alongside seasoned professionals helping you develop your professional credentials while giving you the opportunity to see "the big picture" of transportation infrastructure. Associates also have numerous educational and professional development opportunities, trainings, mentoring programs, and frequent opportunities to work alongside senior management. Associates are esteemed individuals that often go on to accept senior leadership positions throughout the agency.

We are currently recruiting for someone to join the program for the Materials discipline:

Our Materials Engineering Unit (MEI) performs quality acceptance testing and inspection of construction materials during the construction phase of projects, including asphalt, concrete, structural steel welding and bolting, masonry, soils, fire protection and coatings. In addition, MEU has four laboratories that perform testing of asphalt, concrete, soils and chemical/environmental samples. MEU also provides recommendations for material selections and specifications during the design phase of project. Condition surveys and testing of new material technologies are also part of this unit’s scope of responsibilities. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Structural Engineering.


Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
  • Students graduating with a bachelor's or master's degree in Summer 2021, Fall 2021/Winter 2021, or Spring 2022 in an Engineering discipline as stated above
  • Candidates must have a clear interest in public service management and possess a record of academic achievement.
  • Candidates are selected based on academic achievement, analytical and communication skills, and work experience.
  • Candidates selected for Construction Management positions must have a Driver's License
