The Port Department is currently seeking an experienced individual to assist in public outreach and community relations within the Port District, which is comprised of the Cities of Newark, Elizabeth, Jersey City and Bayonne, NJ, as well as Brooklyn, and Staten Island, NY. This position will work in direct consultation with the Port Department & the Government and Community Relations Department (GOCOR) within the PANYNJ.
The Port Community Representative will assist in the development and execution of full-scale community relations campaigns for the Port of New York & New Jersey, with emphasis on environmental programs and workforce development. The successful candidate will work to support existing public outreach and community liaising. The Port Community Representative also works alongside the Council on Port Performance (CPP) Workforce Development Implementation Team to provide comprehensive information to the communities on potential employment opportunities and keep the communities abreast of program and event information. The Candidate will also be engaged with the Port Authority’s Diversity & Inclusion Department working to promote MWSDVBE opportunities within the PORT.
The candidate will work with GOCOR and CPP in communicating with external community stakeholders to continually inform and educate the public about the opportunities available within the PORT arena.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining a database of all interested persons and organizations participating in port-related community events, maintain a NY/NJ Transportation, Logistics and Distribution job bank, work with communitystakeholders facilitate and participate in job fairs and MWSDVBE outreach events
Note – This is a long term, temporary position.
