Capital Project Manager - Network Infrastructure

Under the supervision of the Manager of Network Infrastructure, the successful candidate will support a multi-faceted dynamic network environment. Provide subject matter expertise in routing/switching as well as supporting line departments within the agency. Strong grasp of various network disciplines including routing/switching wireless and network architectures. Support the research of emerging technologies and industry best practices as well as project management life cycle.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Plan, design and handle the installation of wide area networks, including the recommendation of system software and hardware
  • Capture requirements analyze technical networking issues and develop options and recommendations
  • Procure networking hardware and software
  • Review and audit security policies, firewall policies and when necessary to ensure compliance and inclusion of newly adopted technologies
  • Research, analyze, plan and develop hardware and software requirements
  • Lead project management activities for new system requirements, RFP responses, and new technology deployments
  • Create and updates Network Diagrams in MS Visio, and document processes/procedures
  • Collaborate with line departments, end users, partners and associates to resolve complex issues


Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • 3-5+ years Cisco Network Engineering experience with routers, switches, LAN, WAN and dynamic routing protocols (BFD, CFM, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPBGP, MPLS, VPLS, BGP/MPLS) Experience with troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark and TCP Dump
  • Must have network "hands on" technical experience (LAN/WAN)
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (VPN, subnetting, ACLs, VLANs, etc.)



Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Understanding of SONET / Wireless/ Firewalls (Security)
  • Current CCNA/CCNP certification or CCIE highly preferred
  • Knowledge of structured cable system design and implementations. IEEE Cat 6, single/multimode fiber
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Wireless deployments
  • Desire to learn and adapt to new technology
  • Ability to prioritize along with good time management skills Ability to participate as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Sense of ownership/accountability
  • Proficient in Word/Excel/Visio
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) along with Strong interpersonal skills and is able work independently

Communication: Be a good communicator and build relationships with the various line departments you will be working with at the agency.  The position will depend on communication between multiple people across multiple line departments, business units and coordinating with project managers.

Flexibility:  Willing to learn new technologies, security protocols and methods of circumventing our security systems.  Ability to adapt to new challenges as they arise and put out fires without being overwhelmed during busy times. A well-rounded individual with diverse background and experience is preferred.
