Summer Intern - Construction Management - JFK Redevelopment

Responsibilities

The Port Authority offers 12-week paid summer internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world. 

The Construction Management Division of the Engineering Department is looking for an intern to join their team for the summer of 2019.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Review and provide comments on engineering documents, leases, et.al.
• Maintaining data within Excel spreadsheet
• Preparing update reports and presentations
• Primary field work within JFK airport facilities    
• Required to work outside within the field elements of the airport facilities
• Required to follow direction of qualified Port Authority airport personnel while deployed on-site
• Follow all safety and security guidelines and expectations of the airport facilities

The intern will work at JFK Airport to assist with CMD’s effort on the JFK Redevelopment Program.  Currently, CMD is providing constructability, construction staging and procedural reviews as the Authority finalizes the development deals with JetBlue and TOGA.  This work will serve under the direction of the Senior Resident Engineer, in collaboration with JFK Redevelopment staff.

Qualifications

• Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Engineering, Construction Management, or a releated field for the upcoming Fall 2018 school semester.
• We are seeking interns who are talented, driven and who have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region.

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; primarily with Excel, Word, and Outlook, 
• Self-starters with excellent communication, research, problem-solving and applicable technical skills.

On the job, learning is supported by networking sessions with senior management, intern meet and greets and facility tours; broadening your understanding of the agency.
