Summer Intern - Aviation – JFK Redevelopment

Responsibilities

The Port Authority offers 12-week paid summer internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world. 

The JFK Redevelopment Program of the Aviation Department is looking for interns to join their team for the summer of 2019.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Review and provide comments on Program related documents, designs, leases, et.al.
• Maintaining data within Excel spreadsheet
• Preparing update reports and presentations
• Field work support within JFK airport facilities    
• Required to work outside within the field elements of the airport facilities
• Required to follow direction of qualified Port Authority airport personnel while deployed on-site
• Follow all safety and security guidelines and expectations of the airport facilities

The intern will work at JFK Airport to assist with effort on the JFK Redevelopment Program.  Currently, the Program is in both an advanced planning and early design stage and work will be related to various technical efforts which will support the development deals with JetBlue and TOGA.  This work will serve under the direction of the the Redevelopment Program’s Senior and Program Managers.

Qualifications

• Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field for the upcoming Fall 2019 school semester.
• We are seeking interns who are talented, driven and who have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region. 

Candidates residing in the Southeast Queens, Southwest Queens, Rockaways, Elmont, Valley Stream and Five Towns areas are highly encouraged to apply.

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; primarily with Excel, Word, and Outlook, 
• Self-starters with excellent communication, research, problem-solving and applicable technical skills.

On the job, learning is supported by networking sessions with senior management, intern meet and greets and facility tours; broadening your understanding of the agency.
