Responsibilities

The Port Authority offers 12-week paid summer internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world. 

The Strategic Capital Initiatives division of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion is seeking an undergraduate intern in their office to support the JFK Redevelopment program this summer.

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Shepherd and provide refinements for community initiatives
  • Research, writing, presentation skills (MS Office Suite)
  • Support project planning and program oversight
  • Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Notes preparation and summaries
  • Outreach to businesses by phone, email and in-person 
  • Report review and updating

Qualifications

  • Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Public Policy & Administration; Entrepreneurship; Business Management; Communications/Marketing, Sociology or a releated field for the upcoming Fall 2019 school semester.
  • We are seeking interns who are talented, driven and who have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region. 

Candidates residing in the Southeast Queens, Southwest Queens, Rockaways, Elmont, Valley Stream and Five Towns areas are highly encouraged to apply.

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Analytical
  • Detail oriented
  • Team oriented; focus on goal attainment.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Customer-oriented with entrepreneurial skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (project plan, Visio.
  • Local community experience and networking skills.

On the job, learning is supported by networking sessions with senior management, intern meet and greets and facility tours; broadening your understanding of the agency.
