The Credit and Collections Division supports the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (the “Port Authority”) multiple lines of business by ensuring the collection of monies due and ensuring that tenants have the financial stability to meet their obligations.  The position reports directly to the Manager, Credit, Collections and Accounts Receivable and is responsible for reviewing and monitoring the financial data and related background information of prospective and existing tenants, vendors and contractors desiring to do business with the Port Authority to ascertain their credit worthiness where an exposure to a financial loss exists for the Port Authority.  This will involve deep analysis and frequent interaction with customers and internal stakeholders.

Primary Functions:

  • Review complex Port Authority contracts, including leases, tenant alteration agreements, and permit requests to identify and quantify financial risks to the Port Authority and determine adequate security requirements.
  • Perform account research using sources such as Dun & Bradstreet, Internet websites, SAP Real Estate Module, and public records search.
  • Communicate the agency security requirements to the key stakeholders in the contract and generally across the agency.
  • Advise line department staff and other key stakeholders on issues that relate to security requirements.
  • Review security deposit process and maintain and control cash, collateral, Letters of Credit and guarantees.
  • Work with facilities staff to ensure receipt and timely recording of pending security deposits.
  • Monitoring, compiling, reviewing and performance of analysis of interim/fiscal financial information submitted for Port Authority tenants and the major airlines.
  • Processing the Port Authority and PATH receivable lockboxes and collection of past-due tenant accounts.


Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics or related field.  MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in credit and collections.
  • Ability to interpret key financial statements/information to determine security requirements.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to recognize non-obvious patterns


Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

Solid computer Skills-Word, Excel, SAP and Yardi.

Outstanding negotiation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication.

Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally; interface with stake holders to communicate credit decisions.
