Airport Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

The Airport Operations Supervisor may be assigned to various positions reporting to the Airport Duty Manager, Landside Duty Manager, or International Facility Duty Manager to include Communications Coordinator (CC), Ground Transportation Contracts Supervisor, and Wildlife Hazard Management & Aeronautical Supervisor, Landside Control Desk Supervisor, and Terminal Supervisor.

Duties when assigned as the Wildlife Hazard management and Aeronautical Supervisor include:

• Overseeing the airport's FAR Part 139 mandated Wildlife Hazard Management Program
• Maintaining the airport's Foreign Object Damage (FOD) control program
• Performing Remain Overnight (RON) surveys
• Supervision of aeronautical construction activities
• Providing AOA access gate control
• Ensuring Field Base Operator (FBO) contract compliance
• Monitoring aircraft ramp activities for safe operations in compliance with FAA regulatory requirements and Port Authority Rules and Regulations
• May be required to perform aeronautical driver training

Duties when assigned as the Ground Transportation Contracts Supervisor include:

• Supervision of all aspects of airport ground transportation operations, including oversight of the Taxi Dispatchers, Ground Transportation Agents, and Customer Service Representatives.

Duties when assigned as the Terminal Supervisor in International include:

• Assigning and coordinating all baggage belt operations
• Monitoring Immigrations and Customs Hall operations
• Supervising the activities of the Customer Care Representatives
• Inspecting all facilities and equipment to ensure safety, functionality, cleanliness, operational efficiency
• Monitoring and supervising all facets of the Terminal operation by maintaining and developing relationships with PA Contractors, air carriers, Transportation Security   Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other tenants

Stationed in the Operations Control Center, the Communications Coordinator and Landside Control Desk Coordinator performs important monitoring, decision-making, coordinating, and communications functions and serves as the focal point for customers, airlines and tenant inquiries with respect to all of the following operating, revenue, safety and security systems:

• Operations, FAA Air Traffic Control, and Airport Police Radio Frequencies
• Computerized Access Control System
• Emergency Call Box
• Public Address System
• High Speed Notification System
• Computerized Airport Log Systems (CALS)
• Fire Alarm Display
• Proximity Lighting Warning System
• Parking Revenue Control System
• Airport Closed Circuit Television Customer Advisory (Airport InfoAlert) subscriber notification system
• Operations Network (OPSnet)

Selected incumbents will also be required to perform airport emergency response, including airside and landside snow removal, and other duties which may be assigned from time-to-time by the General Manager, Operations Manager, Airport Duty Manager, or designee.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Airport Operations Management or related field from an accredited institution
• Three (3) years full-time paid aviation operations work experience will be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's degree mentioned above
• Possess a valid driver's license

Selected candidates will be subject to a comprehensive background check and must pass a fingerprint-based Criminal History Record Check as mandated by 49 CFR 1542 to obtain and maintain an airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Card with Airfield Movement Area Driving Privileges.

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

• Knowledge of airport terminal, security, landside, and aeronautical operations
• Knowledge of and ability to apply the standards of FAR Part 139
• Ability to obtain a Police Department Shotgun Permit upon appointment to the position
• Knowledge of Airport Traffic Control (ATC) procedures and instructions
• Ability to communicate on the radio using proper terminology while operating a vehicle with FAA Air Traffic Control

Compensation & Benefits

This is a represented position subject to collective bargaining agreement. The starting salary is $65,780, rising to $85,202 after eight years. This position is overtime eligible, and comes with a comprehensive and competitive health insurance, pension, and benefit package.
