Project Manager, Focused on Engineering Design for JFK

Responsibilities

The Aviation Department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to manage scoping and authorization process for projects focused on Engineering Design at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK).

Under the direction of the Senior Program Manager, the Project Manager, will be responsible for:

  • Establishing project schedules and budgets
  • Managing project planning, design, construction and close-out efforts
  • Coordinating the efforts of multiple staff departments as required
  • Ensuring all required permits or agreements with regulatory authorities are secured
  • Ensuring the timely completion of projects within scope, schedule and budget

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management or as a senior level designer of complex infrastructure projects (such as an Engineering Lead Engineering Architect, LEA)
  • Experience in project management, engineering design, architecture, and/or construction fields including establishment of project plans, setting priorities, and incorporating facility operations and security requirements into project plans
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Architect license in New York or New Jersey is desirable
  • Knowledge of physical plants/assets, analysis of problem, obtaining the necessary resources from the various stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, estimating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and/or inspecting costs, work, and contractor and consultant performance
  • Experience in managing and influencing diverse work groups and project teams
  • Customer service, decision-making and problem solving experience
  • Knowledge of capital planning and assessment, cost-benefit and life cycle cost analyses, project planning and development, and risk management protocols
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and prioritize assignments
  • Experience developing complex strategies that represent the needs of the Agency and Aviation Department to achieve broad business goals in the areas of airport operations, maintenance, facilities, asset management and airport redevelopment and to understand the impact on various stakeholders within and outside the PA
  • Experience with alternative procurement strategies
