About the Role
Major Capital Projects has overall responsibility for the design and construction delivery of the new Midtown Bus Terminal (MTBT), the construction management of the core and shell of the new Hudson Tunnels for the Gateway Development Commission, planning for the Cross Harbor Freight Program (CHFP), and other projects assigned to it.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the MCP Safety Management, the selected candidate will oversee safety operations of construction activities in accordance with contract requirements and best management safety practices; conduct routine site assessments to identify hazardous work practices and conditions; liaise with construction managers and contractors in developing corrective action strategies to eliminate hazardous conditions and prevent workplace incidents; participate in safety meetings, job briefings, plan reviews, progress meetings, “toolbox talks”; review contractor submitted health and safety plans, job hazard analyses, means and methods, and pre-task plans to ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental Program (SHEP) and regulatory conformity; participate in and document accident and incident investigations. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the preparation of weekly performance reports utilizing web-based application and spreadsheets.
