The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey offers paid internships to students, providing the opportunity to work with experienced professionals on assignments critical to building, operating, and maintaining transportation and infrastructure assets in New York and New Jersey. The Audit Department is looking for an intern to join their team!     
About the Audit Department   
The Audit Department evaluates and improves the Port Authority’s internal controls and risk management.  Audit also provides internal auditing services for the Port Authority, including reviews of business processes, systems, and operations, and examines records of tenants and contractors doing business with the Port Authority.   
  • Participate in the planning of audits and reviews of various Port Authority functions, operations, and business processes, including reviews of private sector partners doing business with the Port Authority.
    • Reviews will include developing the audit scope and audit program, executing the audit work, including gathering and analysis of required data and information and attend site visits.
  • Prepare work papers and draft reports summarizing results of the audit, recommendations for improvement and communicating results to the executive team and managers.
  • Perform various tasks and assignments.
  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
  • Interest in public service and/or transportation
  • Willingness to learn                                                                                                        
  • Major in Audit, Accounting, Business, Finance, Management, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • Rising junior, senior, or graduate-level student
  • Past finance experience (can include jobs, internships, leadership in a school organization, etc.)
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work independently or within a team, and prioritize work
  • Strong interpersonal skills                                                                           
Internship Details: 
  • If offered the position, the start date would be approximately two weeks from the date you receive an offer and you would have an orientation at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • This is expected to be a year-round internship so an end date will be determined after the internship starts
  • This internship will require approximately 30 hours per week
  • The format is expected to be hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City, NJ
  • The hourly salary range is $17.63 to $29.57 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
