The Office of Inspector General is looking for an intern to join their Fraud Prevention team!   

About the Office of Inspector General:    

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) works to keep the agency corruption-free.  The mission of the OIG is to enhance and defend the integrity of the Port Authority's programs and operations. To accomplish this mission, the OIG detects, receives, and investigates allegations of fraud, corruption, waste, and abuse with respect to employees, or other individuals or organizations doing business with the Port Authority, who attempt to corrupt or unlawfully interfere with Port Authority operations. The duties of this position are highly confidential and involve the handling of sensitive documentation. The selected candidate is expected to maintain confidentiality and discretion.    

Responsibilities:   

• Conduct vendor integrity checks on entities seeking to perform work on Port Authority projects
• Conduct database searches of companies and key individuals within those companies and report their findings

Qualifications: 

• Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
• Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc., Adobe
• Self-starters with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
• Interest in public service and/or transportation
• Willingness to learn

Desired Skills: 

• Major in Public Administration or a related field
• Interest in criminal justice policy, audit and/or investigations
• Analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills

Internship Details:   

• The start date is expected to be in March with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
• The end date will be determined at a later date
• This internship will require approximately 29 hours per week
• The format is expected to be hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at 5 Marine View Plaza in Hoboken, NJ
• The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
