The Office of Inspector General is looking for an Investigations intern to join their team!  
  
About the Office of Inspector General:  
  
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) works to keep the agency corruption-free. The mission of the OIG is to enhance and defend the integrity of the Port Authority's programs and operations. To accomplish this mission, the OIG detects, receives, and investigates allegations of fraud, corruption, waste, and abuse with respect to employees, or other individuals or organizations doing business with the Port Authority, who attempt to corrupt or unlawfully interfere with Port Authority operations. The duties of this position are highly confidential and involve the handling of sensitive documentation. The selected candidate is expected to maintain confidentiality and discretion.        
  
        
Responsibilities:        
  • Serve as an intake coordinator for incoming complaints via telephone, email, website, or in person
  • Direct complaints/complainants appropriately for handling
  • Ensure documents are uploaded and filed appropriately in the OIG case management system
  • Prepare correspondence regarding final determinations
  • Compile data and prepare weekly activity reports on complaints received
  • Prepare statistical reports, presentations, charts, and graphs as requested
  • Perform various tasks and special projects as assigned 

Qualifications   

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
  • Interest in public service and/or transportation
  • Willingness to learn

Desired:  

  • Major in Investigations, Audit, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to complete projects within specified timeframes under minimal supervision
  
  
  
Internship Details:  
  • The start date is expected to be in mid-late March with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • The internship is expected to last approximately one year
  • This internship will require 4 days per week (up to 36.25 hours per week); the internship will be more part-time while classes are in session and more full-time during the summer
  • The format is expected to hybrid (2 days virtual and 2 days in-person at 5 Marine View in Hoboken, NJ)
  • The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
