The Aviation department is looking for a summer intern to join their Asset Management team!
About the Aviation Asset Management Unit:
The Asset Management unit is advancing on several fronts to improve our asset management practices and to align to organizational strategic goals determined by the agency’s Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Program. Our capital planning, project management, customer experience, operations and maintenance functions will gain performance improvements as a result of improved airport maintenance unit work plans, work execution, and spare/replacement parts management. The EAM system is expected to provide enterprise asset management best practices to improve the productivity for all Aviation assets by meeting regulatory requirements, extending asset life, optimizing parts management and improving planned maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of a Maintenance Object system into a geospatial platform which will facilitate the assignment of work orders; this task includes incorporating Auto CAD drawings (dwg) into ARC GIS to develop a prototype of the Asset hierarchy in the airside and landside areas
- Support of data collection activities, collecting and organizing key components required for the successful implementation of the second phase of the department’s Asset Management implementation
- Support of the Vertical Circulation remote monitoring program activities, including the reporting on all public facing elevators, escalators and moving walkaways; this is an excellent opportunity involving one of the agency’s first forays into the Internet of Things
- Meet regularly with Aviation end users and ensure that asset management, maintenance management, and related functions within Aviation are developed consistently with EAM program efforts
- Attend regular meetings between Aviation and EAM stakeholders to ensure that Aviation developments continue to align with, inform, and are informed by EAM developments.
- Develop status reports for Aviation Asset Management groups; manage the document control of all relevant development documents
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
- Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
- Interest in public service and/or transportation
- Willingness to learn
Desired:
- Graduate-level or advanced level undergraduate level students
- Ability to operate independently and proactively in an environment
- Technical knowledge or working experience in one or more of the following areas: Engineering, Architecture, Technology, Information Systems, Supply Chain, or related areas
- Experience or interest in in project management, engineering, architecture, facility maintenance, technology, or related field
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people with differing priorities, such as tenants, contractors, vendors, facility maintenance and operations staff, government, and industry officials
- Familiarity with or sincere desire to work with airport master planning, airport and facility planning and design, aeronautical navigation/security systems, airline industry business and operating practices, and development of airport functional plans
- Familiarity with utilities and governmental agencies
- Experienced user of IBM Maximo, Power BI, AutoCAD, GIS, Nearmap, Google EarthPro, Adobe Acrobat and Visio)
Internship Details:
- The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
- The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23
- This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
- The internship is expected to hybrid, 2 days virtual and 3 days in-person (primarily at 4 World Trade Center, Newark Airport, or JFK Airport but some travel is expected to other airports as needed)
- The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
