The Aviation department is look for an intern to join their JFK Airport Operations Center team!

About the JFK Airport Operations Center:

The John F. Kennedy International (JFK) Airport, Airport Operations Center (AOC) serves as a dedicated facility providing operational situational awareness, collaborative decision making, management, and communications for the continuous, effective, and timely response to issues and/or events that effect the airport, all stakeholders, and our traveling public. The AOC coordinates multiple resources and focuses on the entire airport impact and restoration of operations caused by a single, or multiple incidents.


  • Operational Support: assist the Assistant AOC Manager (Staff role) in developing and implementing operational policies, procedures and performance standards that maximize facility resources and deliver the highest levels of customer service.  Continuously strive for ways to improve operational efficiency, develop reports, and maintain data metrics to monitor, track, and evaluate performance. Develop clear understanding of continuity of operations and how effective resilience planning can enhance sustainment of daily operations.
  • Customer Experience & Technology Support: Act as liaison for implementing, supporting, and enhancing various Airport & Terminal Monitoring Technology responsible for traffic management, customer satisfaction, and aeronautical operations.
  • Special Event Planning: The intern will work with the AOC team in organizing special events, facilitating tours of the AOC, and assist with VIP visits to the facility.
  • Meeting Facilitation: The intern will work with multiple departments within JFK AOC to arrange, record, and follow up on various ad hoc meetings and events.


  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
  • Interest in public service and/or transportation
  • Willingness to learn

Internship Details:

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23
  • This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
  • The format is expected to be fully in-person at JFK Airport
  • The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
