The World Trade Center Department is looking for a Planning & Sustainability intern to join their team! 

About the World Trade Center Department:

The World Trade Center Department is responsible for operating, maintaining, and promoting the World Trade Center campus by leading cooperative efforts to enhance the general public's interests and experiences.  This department seeks an intern to support its Planning and Sustainability unit. This includes participating in projects to improve accessibility, wayfinding, communications, and general customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Creative problem solving in the realms of urban planning, communications, and facility management
  • Conduct research for new insights and benchmarks
  • Frequent collaboration with teammates in a dynamic workplace that includes a mix of remote, field, and office work
  • Attend virtual division-and-department briefings and participating in presentations
  • Potential projects include delivery bike tracking and analytics; street pedestrianization, amenities, and logistics; sustainable facilities research and analytics

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region.
  • Interest in public service and/or transportation
  • Willingness to learn

Desired:

  • Background in Planning, Design, or similar field
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with research and applicable technical skills
  • Data gathering, management, and visualization experience
  • Experience with Adobe Design Suite

Internship Details:

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23
  • This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
  • The format is expected to be hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
