The Marketing Department is looking for an Internal Communications intern to join their team!

 

About the Marketing Department:

 

The Marketing Department is responsible for communicating with all Port Authority customers who use our airports, tunnels, bridges, terminals and the PATH system, World Trade Center site neighborhood and visitors, Port and Air Cargo business-to-business customers, community residents and the public interested in and affected by the Authority’s operations and activities. The Marketing Department also provides important communications support for the Port Authority staff functions such as Procurement, Engineering, Human Resources, Emergency Management, Port Authority Police, and Real Estate, and collaborates with agency stakeholders on internal communications to Port Authority employees.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Marketing staff and other Port Authority stakeholders on internal communications content development designed to educate and engage the agency’s approximately 8,000 employees
  • Work will include both weekly deadlines for internal e-blasts and newsletters as well as longer-term campaign-based projects
  • Support the Marketing and Technology departments in the launch of a new employee intranet portal via content development and stakeholder coordination
  • Assist team in developing, implementing and staffing employee-facing events, both in-person and virtual.
  • Track and analyze success of the agency’s internal communications efforts

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
  • Interest in public service and/or transportation
  • Willingness to learn

 

Desired:

  • Major in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Rhetoric, or a related field.
  • Experience with graphic design software
  • Content creation and writing experience; familiarity with online content management systems
  • Previous internships, course work or extracurriculars using Communications and Marketing skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Comfortable with critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management.

 

Internship Details:

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • The internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23
  • This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)
  • The format is expected to be hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at 4 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan
  • The hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)
