The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey offers paid internships, providing students with the opportunity to work with experienced professionals on assignments critical to building, operating, and maintaining transportation and infrastructure assets in New York and New Jersey. Assignments include hands-on projects where interns quickly become part of the team and help the agency with its mission of keeping the region moving. The diversity of our businesses creates a variety of opportunities for students to gain exposure to the work of a first-class public agency.

We offer internships in departments, like: Audit; Aviation; Communications/Marketing; Health & Safety; Operations; Security; Comptroller; Continuous Improvement; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Engineering; Human Resources; Labor Relations; Management & Budget; PATH; Planning & Regional Development; Port; Procurement; Project Management; Sustainability; Technology; Treasury; Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals; World Trade Center; Major Capital Projects; Financial Planning; Law; and more.

Qualifications:

  • For the 2025 Summer Internship Program, candidates must be students who are enrolled in college through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
  • Interest in public service and/or transportation
  • Willingness to learn

Internship Details:

  • The 2025 Summer Internship Program will likely start toward the end of May 2025, lasting approximately 12 weeks
  • Most internships are hybrid, but some are fully in-person
