Description

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Field Operations, the Field supervisor, should be fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter related to Asbestos, Lead and other environmental remediation projects or functional areas of assignments. This includes planning and conducting work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification/variance of regulations, standard methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria.  Devises and defines new solutions to problems encountered. Interprets technical guidance for unusual or complex problems, reviews stage III and IV contract documents and submittals for adherence to state regulations. Supervises assigned inspectors and technical consultants’ staff on a project basis. Will act as an Environmental Lead on numerous Stage IV assignments.

Please Note: 
This position will be initially located at the LaGuardia Airport, Environmental Field Operations Office, but can be relocated to any other PA Facility within the Port District depending on CMD workload demands.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

 

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s/Associate’s Degree in Engineering or Majoring in Environmental studies, from an accredited college or university with six (6) or more years functioning as Engineer/Supervisor or related experience or possess NYS/NJS Certifications in Asbestos/Lead Abatement industry for Project Monitoring, Design, Supervision, and Site assessment/survey and a minimum of 10 years of related experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

 

Desired:

 Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

 

  • Demonstrated experience managing a staff of technicians and inspectors of permanent and consultant staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Construction Management Division (CMD) strategies, processes and procedures especially in Asbestos and Lead abatement industry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge in monitoring actual schedules against forecasts;
  • Licenses/Certifications for Asbestos and Lead Abatement functions in NY/NJ.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of review of contract documentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Record keeping of environmental projects.
