Description
Position Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the General Manager of Risk Financing, the successful candidate will analyze various agreements that the Agency enters into (e.g., construction and operations contracts, leases, permits, easements, rights of entry, and Memoranda of Understanding).
The successful candidate’s responsibilities shall include but will not be limited to:
- Review contracts to identify exposures and provide insurance specifications.
- Negotiate with vendors and lessees regarding contract language and insurance requirements.
- Verify that adequate insurance coverage has been provided and is being maintained by all parties to a contract.
- Assist with Port Authority insurance renewal/audit, including data gathering and analysis for disclosure to insurers/reinsurers.
- Assist with the procurement of risk financing services as needed (e.g., brokerage services, certificate management, etc.).
- Assist with preparation of required materials for authorization and Board approval process, including presentations for the Board Approval process.
- Communicate with Port Authority staff, insurance brokerage firms, TPAs, attorneys, claims personnel and other entities as appropriate.
- Prepare and/or participate in ad hoc risk related projects, analyses, and reports.
Position Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be able to review contracts and comprehend legalese
- Have knowledge of insurances related to the operations of Port Authority facilities (e.g., Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Auto, and Professional Liability)
- Have a bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance, business, economics, engineering, or law and minimum of two (2) years of experience in contractual risk analysis relating to leases; or
- Associate degree in risk management, finance, business, or law and minimum of four (4) years of experience contractual risk analysis relating to leases, or
- High School Diploma and minimum of 10 years contractual risk analysis
- Completed or in the process of completing a Professional Designation such as CPCU, SCLA, and/or ARM preferred
- Demonstrated ability to conduct contractual risk assessments and data analysis
- Ability to identify appropriate risk transfer opportunities and any exceptions to requirements that can be granted
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Must have ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong PC skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
