Reporting to the Deputy General Manager, the Senior Marine Terminal Operations Representative is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the operations of terminal operators and warehouse tenants based in Red Hook, Brooklyn and Port Ivory/Howland Hook, Staten Island.  The selected candidate will provide positive customer service and operational excellence while enabling the facility to perform at optimal levels; interact with a variety of internal and external groups, agencies, and businesses to carry out the goals of the Port Department, while maintaining continuity within the community and ensuring the smooth operation of NYMT facilities; ensure compliance with Federal security regulations and environmental requirements, safety standards, lease agreements, and the Port Authority Marine Terminals Tariff FMC Schedule No. PA 10; act as the Facility Security Officer (FSO)/Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) ensuring the facility maintains compliance with Coast Guard regulations and representing the facility in annual and mandated inspections. 

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Issue and administer public berth applications using a vessel billing and berth application database
  • Monitor the operability of integral facility systems and equipment to include CCTV systems, radios, and warning sirens
  • Coordinate and invoice security guard contracts, reconcile invoices to ensure proper billing
  • Prepare and monitor the facility budget, run revenue analysis using SAP as needed, prepare yearly revenue budget
  • Conduct facility tours and space surveys, provide information on facility activities to visitors as necessary
  • Create, track, and follow up with maintenance work-order requests for tenants’ facilities
  • Oversee security and utility contracts
  • Liaison for third party use of the facility
  • Submit tenant billing and vendor payment documents in SAP, monitor accounts for payments and receipts of payments respectively

 

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  •  Must have 5 years of experience managing Port Authority facilities or equivalence experience
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a Federal Security Background check and obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) to work in a maritime environment as required by Department of Homeland Security.
  • Selected candidate will be required to obtain Certification as a Facility Security Officer within 6 months.

Applicants must meet all performance and attendance standards and have completed all probationary periods.
