Principal Environmental Engineer

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Environmental Engineer, the Principal’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: managing technical staff performing site remediation, environmental investigation, asbestos abatement and environmental permitting for all construction projects at transportation facilities operated by the Port Authority of NY & NJ, meeting with internal and external Department Managers and their staff to resolve issues to facilitate the advancement of construction projects, provide technical support to Line departments for maintaining environmental compliance and to provide technical assistance to Law Department and Real Estate Department in property transactions.

Qualifications:    

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
• A Professional Engineer’s license in NY and/or NJ
• A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the aforementioned areas is required with a minimum of 5 years managing technical staff and completing formal employee evaluations.
• Selected candidate must have experience managing and designing environmental requirements for large construction projects, securing environmental construction permits, remediating soil and groundwater contamination, performing environmental site investigations, designing asbestos abatement projects and environmental compliance at transportation facilities in New York and New Jersey.
• The individual shall have an in-depth understanding of NY and NJ State environmental regulations and permitting requirements and be familiar with State Regulatory Agency personnel. 
• Must possess a valid driver’s license

Desired:

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

• A Professional Engineer’s license in both NY and NJ is preferred
• Experience performing such work at aviation facilities and marine terminals
• Excellent verbal, communication and organizational skills
