Responsibilities

As a reporting Department to the Chief Financial Officer, the Comptroller’s Department is a team of dedicated professionals who ensure the accuracy of the Port Authority’s finances. As part of the Comptroller’s Department team, you will gain insight and experience surrounding the agency’s financial structure and internal control processes as well as knowledge of the operations of our various lines of business, giving you extensive opportunities for a long-term career at the Port Authority (PA).

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Lease Accounting, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Administer the various cost recovery computations that exist within the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Liberty Fees Lease under an integrated format to include Flight Fee, AirTrain Fee, and Fuel Gallonage Fee.
  • Prepare monthly rent installment payment requests, memos, journal vouchers, and The Annual Statement Newark Marine and Air Terminals revenue sharing agreement with City of Newark.
  • Administer the cost recovery component of the Federal Aviation Regulation Boarding Gate Security Program at EWR.
  • Administer various quarterly reporting requirements of the Teleport rent calculation and Statement of Operations, as well as the annual Teleport Operating Maintenance Calculation schedules.
  • Review monthly PA Board Proposals and Memoranda of Justification (MJ) for EWR, Stewart International Airport, and Teterboro Airport for business issues and cost recovery impacts.
  • Review EWR cash vouchers ($25,000 and above) to ensure appropriate use of account codes.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Corporate Finance from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • In lieu of bachelor’s degree a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience can be accepted.
  • Minimum two years accounting experience.

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills in reconciling financial information.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal staff at all levels,
  • supporting departments and external agencies.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP, PC applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, and DataWatch Modeler.
