Summer Intern - PATH, Contract Services

Description

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey offers paid internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world. Assignments include hands-on projects to cultivate technical, writing, communication, and team-building skills. PATH is looking for an intern to join their Contract Services team! Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Inputting and updating box records into the PA’s HPRM
• Organizing new filing location at McMillan Bloedel and clean up files at JSTC 10th Floor
• Utilizing B2G to clean up PATH records and to help the Manager identify and potentially award contracts to MWBE vendors.

About PATH and the Contract Services Division:

The Contract Services Division is responsible for awarding the majority of PATH Contracts, PATH Records Management and working with Client Departments to meet the PA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program returning to their program during the Fall 2023 semester.
• We are seeking interns who are talented, driven, and have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region.
• We welcome applications from a diverse range of majors/minors.
• Successful candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication, research, and applicable technical skills.

• Ability to pick up new computer applications
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient in Office Apps
• Ability to follow specific directions
• Work independently

Internship Details:

• The duration is expected to be approximately 12 weeks, starting in the beginning of June 2023
• This internship will require work 5 days/week at 7.25 hours/day
• The format is expected to be hybrid, partially in-person and partially virtual

About PATH:

The Port Authority Trans Hudson Corporation (PATH), an FRA-regulated commuter railroad, is the primary transit link between Manhattan and New Jersey communities and suburban commuter railroads. Carrying over 75 million passengers per year, PATH trains run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, one of the few 24-hour systems in the world. Since the early 20th Century, PATH and its predecessor, the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad, have carried passengers between New Jersey and points in Midtown and Lower Manhattan, serving as a key link in the region's transportation network and as a catalyst for continued residential, commercial and employment growth.

PATH operates 24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year. Employees are required to work weekends, holidays, atypical hours (evening and midnight shifts) and during inclement weather conditions. Incumbents may be subjected to mandatory overtime at the beginning or end of their scheduled tour, or on their days off. A union seniority system dictates work schedules for jobs represented by one of PATH’s unions, and time off may not be immediately available during the usual summer and holiday periods. Working conditions will be challenging, including but not limited to inclement weather, direct contact with the public, in tunnel and outside areas during active train service, and an industrial environment. Commitment to attendance is expected and required.
