Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant Chief Engineer, Quality Assurance Division and under the direct supervision of the Unit Manager, Construction Standards and Inspection Unit, the successful candidate will perform audits of Port Authority contracts and tenant construction projects; also attend scheduled acceptance inspections and major tests to recommend the issuance of a Permit to Occupy or Use and Certificate of Completion; prepare Inspections Reports in a timely manner to identify non-conforming items and follow up for final disposition; audit field records, including Special Inspection Reports for Port Authority contracts. The selected candidate will be assigned to audit independently over 50 projects simultaneously leading to the issuance of a Permit to Occupy or Use for every single project

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

 

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering preferably in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical.
  • Five years of experience inspecting civil, structural and architectural work on variety of projects
  • Familiarity with various codes including IBC and NYC Building Code
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

 

  • Ability to effectively reach sound conclusion to recommend the issuance of sensitive time sensitive documents
  • Proficiency and effectiveness in written and oral communication skills are essential as well as being physically fit to climb various types of structures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
  • Self-motivated and experienced in working in a team environment
  • Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
