Assignments include hands-on projects to cultivate technical, writing, communication, and team-building skills. The Office of the Chief Security Officer Department is looking for an intern to join their Resource Management & Planning, Asset Management & Office Space team! Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Auditing all equipment purchased utilizing asset forfeiture funds and creating spreadsheets with necessary information including but not limited to: cost, how many received, property/serial number, useful life expectancy, and date of inventory
  • Reviewing MVA reports 
  • Managing the MVA hotline
  • Assisting the Senior Business Manager
  • Attending on-site visits to Commands
  • Submitting forms to request office space assistance
  • Following up on requests
  • Attending meetings
  • Submitting requests for building management assistance

About the Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO) Department:

OCSO is comprised of several different units: Port Authority Police Department (PAPD); Office of Emergency Management (OEM); Security Operations & Programs Department (SOPD); World Trade Center Security; and Resource, Management & Planning (RMP). OCSO protects the Port Authority’s customers, general public, employees, and critical infrastructure. RMP supports all other departments under the OCSO umbrella by assisting in the administration of contracts, purchasing equipment, office space requests, vehicle requests, etc. 

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program returning to their program during the Fall 2023 semester.
  • We are seeking interns who are talented, driven, and have a genuine interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region.
  • We welcome applications from a diverse range of majors/minors.
  • Successful candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication, research, and applicable technical skills.

 Desired Skills

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook

 Internship Details:

  • The duration is expected to be approximately 12 weeks, starting in the beginning of June 2023
  • This internship will require work 5 days/week at 7.25 hours/day
  • The format is expected to be hybrid, partially in-person and partially virtual
