Department: Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals
Location: New York, NY

Description

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey offers paid internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world. Assignments include hands-on projects to cultivate technical, writing, communication, and team-building skills. The diversity of our businesses creates a variety of opportunities for students to gain exposure to the work of a first-class public agency.

The Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals department is looking for an intern to join their Customer Experience Programs and Services team! We’re looking to improve how we tell our customers’ stories to drive operational change and deliver more meaningful customer experiences across our facilities. Reporting to the General Manager, Customer Experience (CX), you’ll work with our team to become familiar with our customer base, case management protocol, CX initiatives, and reporting portfolio. You’ll develop branding, editorial, and visualization improvements to elevate how we present our CX reporting and analyses to department and agency leadership. You’ll also help us expand our internal messaging and lead the development of a new CX newsletter broadcast.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reporting / Branding - Review our team’s existing report deliverables and develop/define a polished, branded look and feel for our document portfolio that defines our group while aligning with agency design standards.
  • Content Development / Editorial Support - Provide editorial and technical support in improving CX data dashboard portfolio for executives and facility management. Develop content plan and format for a TB&T CX “newsletter” that can be issued to the department on a quarterly basis. While the content can be curated from our other deliverables, you’ll lead the design and editorial development to create an eye-catching, informative, well-written, and engaging document for an audience that may not otherwise consider CX within their work approach.
  • Customer Correspondence - Coordinate with facility management to research and draft/issue responses to customer inquiries received via multiple channels.
