Description

As a reporting Department to the Chief Financial Officer, the Comptroller’s Department is a team of dedicated professionals who ensure the accuracy of the Port Authority’s finances. As part of the Comptroller’s Department team, you will gain insight and experience surrounding the agency’s financial structure and internal control processes as well as knowledge of the operations of our various lines of business, giving you extensive opportunities for a long-term career at the Port Authority.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Senior Accounting Supervisor, Payroll Accounting, and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide PA timekeeping staff with assistance, utilizing the Manager Electronic Time and Labor Approval requirement with the security setup, training, question resolution and online support for approvers.
  • Maintaining accurate Static Group and Unit relationships in the PeopleSoft system and maintaining PA Form 1944 records electronically in the PeopleSoft system, for all Agency Org Units in the Authorized Approvers system page.
  • Collaborate with staff and consultants to test and analyze new programs in PeopleSoft pertaining to union contracts and general operating issues with the Time and Labor application.
  • Performing bi-weekly petty cash self-audits, as well as Time & Labor Summary and Overtime Pay audits.
  • Initiate communications to agency staff regarding timekeeping processes.
  • Handling and coordinating special projects as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Corporate Finance from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience can be accepted.

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines, work independently and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with a strong understanding of accounting.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal staff at all levels and external business partners.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Knowledge of the Port Authority accounting and financial structure.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite application.
  • Understanding of PeopleSoft and SAP.
