Description

As a reporting Department to the Chief Financial Officer, the Comptroller’s Department is a team of dedicated professionals who ensure the accuracy of the Port Authority’s finances. As part of the Comptroller’s Department team, you will gain insight and experience surrounding the agency’s financial structure and internal control processes as well as knowledge of the operations of our various lines of business, giving you extensive opportunities for a long-term career at the Port Authority.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Accounts Payable Division Supervisor, the selected candidate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Input Revenue and Payroll wire payments in SAP.
  • Verify Citi Payment Exchange (CPE) Portal updates and Match Pay data thru online bank access.
  • Execute Accounts Payable Check Payment Program, Check Cancellations and Check Reissuing.
  • Monthly review, preparation, and posting of Journal Vouchers; Compile and analyze monthly operating expense variance.
  • Completion of assorted daily tasks (such as distribution of returned/received checks, reviewing open Items reports, unblocking stochastic blocked Invoices and invoice problem resolution).
  • Back up to executing the wire program, wire invoice verification, and perform other miscellaneous duties.
  • Back up to the Travel Desk, verifying Business Travel Authorization (BTA) approvals, approving ADTRAV travel bookings, reviewing Expense Accounts (EA), responding to staff SAP Travel Management inquiries, and setting up employees in ADTRAV.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Corporate Finance from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 1 years of relevant work experience.
  • In lieu of bachelor’s degree a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience can be accepted.

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Knowledge of Port Authority accounting and financial structure.
  • Knowledge of Port Authority businesses and operations.
  • Knowledge of Port Authority financial systems, including SAP.
  • Demonstrated experience using PC spreadsheet applications (Excel) to perform financial analyses.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external staff at all levels.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Excel applications.
