Reporting to a Supervisor, Marketing, the Marketing Specialist will play a critical role in helping establish and execute strategic and creative plans, online and offline, to reinvent how the Port Authority engages with the hundreds of millions of customers who use and rely upon the Port Authority’s facilities to get to where they need to go. This role encompasses responsibility for developing strategic plans and drive creative execution to help reimagine a “customer service first” model. As a member of the marketing team, the Marketing Specialist will be a key player in building a “best in class” marketing organization.

At a time of exciting change and innovation within the Port Authority, the Marketing Specialist will be expected to deliver against several key pillars of focus: marketing strategy, creative content development and execution and digital ecosystem optimization (e.g. website personalization strategies). Working closely with the Supervisor, Marketing, s/he will help transform the marketing function from one of execution to one of strategic leadership.

The Marketing Specialist will pro-actively guide the creation and delivery of marketing initiatives including website content, social media strategy and posts, advertising campaigns, collateral materials, and other marketing deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit the existing content on our websites for brand voice, relevance, gaps and optimization. Pro-actively develop and execute strategies to optimize the ROI of our website, from personalization strategy to content development.
  • Research peer and other related organizations around the world to help identify our content and strategy gaps. 
  • Manage the development and execution of social media content and campaigns to promote security efforts, PAPD recruitment, DEI and sustainability. 
  • Oversee the preparation various administrative plans and documents required for agency programs and initiatives such as the Business Continuity Plan, MWBE reporting, etc.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university 

  • At least 7 years of experience in developing integrated marketing campaigns (from campaign ideas to content and social media tactics)
  • An additional 5 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in digital strategy (e.g. personalization or content development)
  • Preferred: experience in a core Port Authority business: e.g., aviation, public transit, ports.
  • An agile, rigorous, driven and creative professional mindset.
  • Knowledge of the New York/New Jersey media environment is a plus.
  • Experience with giving direction to graphic design resources.
