The Port Authority offers 12-week paid summer internships to students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on assignments critical to operating, maintaining, and expanding the transportation infrastructure for one of the greatest economies in the world.

The Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals department is looking for a summer intern to join their team in the Transportation Planning and Revenue Programs unit! Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
A development proposal was recently approved for property adjacent to the Holland Tunnel administration building in Jersey City, NJ. The administration building and development site are located between the portals of the tunnel's two tubes. Intersections controlling the flow of traffic into and out of the tunnel currently have long crossing distances and operate with actuated pedestrian signals. This represents an unattractive pedestrian environment and any large increase in pedestrian crossings could result in a significant reduction in vehicular flow due to shorter signal phases for tunnel traffic.
The intern will:
Possible solutions to be evaluated by the intern include identifying preferred pedestrian paths and developing potential wayfinding treatments, changes to local intersections to provide pedestrian safety without impeding the flow of traffic, and re-configuration of the administration building property.
Students must be enrolled in an graduate program for the upcoming Fall 2018 school semester.
