PATH is seeking a Supervisor, Car Inspector to join our Car Equipment Division located at the Harrison Car Maintenance Facility in Harrison, NJ.
Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent, Car Equipment Division, the selected candidate will perform the following typical duties but are not limited to: Schedule and Supervise all FRA required inspections of railcars; Provide support to and maintain contact with local FRA Inspectors; Supervise a unionized work force to ensure work is performed according to Federal and PA Rules and Regulations; Determine and schedule necessary work assignments; Delegate/assign work to appropriate work groups and trades personnel; Coordinate scheduled work assignments with various divisions; Prepare reports regarding work activities to keep Supervisors and Senior Management apprised of work output; Supervise safety activities; Interpreting and administering work rules from union contracts; Investigate employee injuries and develop initiatives to support and promote the Division’s Safety and Attendance Management policies; Plan and schedule repair and maintenance work; Implement Capital Work programs, Business and Maintenance Planning; Monitor/minimize impact on division budget; Respond to emergency situations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be able to respond to emergency calls 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Knowledge of FRA Safety standards.
Working knowledge of FRA regulations and inspection requirement
Hgh Schhol graduate of vocational trade/technical school, or union apprenticeship/journeyman training program or higher is desirable.
Knowledge and experience with facility maintenance and operations related to trade work performed by unionized facility forces.
Knowledge of basic personal computer applications within MS Office Programs and Asset Management Systems.
Ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and contractors negotiating outcomes and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to devise and implement innovative and creative solutions to facility maintenance issues.
Effective written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated knowledge of operating rules and safety procedure.
Demonstrated ability to use standard office computer applications
Demonstrated ability to independently reason and determine appropriate action in unusual or critical situations.
Demonstrated ability to clearly understand, transmit and produce written and oral technical instructions and reports.
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and instruct subordinates.
Demonstrated ability to understand union agreement procedures.
Must be able to work in diverse physical work environments.

PATH operates 24 hours per day/7 days per week/365 days per year. Employees are required to work weekends, holidays, atypical hours (evening and midnight shifts) and during inclement weather conditions. Incumbents may be subjected to mandatory overtime at the beginning or end of their scheduled tour, or on their days off. A union seniority system dictates work schedules for jobs represented by one of PATH’s unions, and time off may not be immediately available during the usual summer and holiday periods. Working conditions will be challenging, including but not limited to inclement weather, direct contact with the public, in tunnel and outside areas during active train service, and an industrial environment. Commitment to attendance is expected and required.
