Responsibilities

The Port Authority of NY & NJ is seeking a talented Data Reporting Analyst to join our team in the Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI).

The Data Reporting Analyst reports to the Manager of Policy, Analytics, Civil Rights & ADA Compliance. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate with numerous internal and external partners in order to play a lead role in analyzing data, designing reports/dashboards, and reporting on the Agency performance metrics on contracting across all categories of Procurement, and other diversity/ civil rights matter as required.

This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual interested in creating change through demonstrated utilization of data analytics and visualization. The selected candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, and analytical experience, as well as the ability to retrieve data from databases, conduct analyses, observe and assess trends, and assess idiosyncrasies in the data.

The position is responsible for the following activities:

  • Conduct analysis and reporting to provide concise, relevant, and meaningful insights on all facets of supplier diversity, including the number of contracts awarded by various categories and the number of payments made to contractors by various categories.
  • Extract, import, and verify supplier diversity data from SAP and B2G systems as well as internal sub-systems.
  • Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and dashboards to support ODIO in achieving deliverables and provide performance metrics including federal compliance reports.
  • Organize system database exports into formal reporting structures for analytics, and issue resolution purposes.
  • Perform system synchronization monitoring, issue identification and troubleshooting for supplier data correction.
  • Support Manager, Director, and Executives with system migration and/or integrations tasks.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis under the direction of Manager in support of varied process simplification and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business/Data Analytics, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Approximately 3 years or more of experience in programming, data management, and/or building analytics reports and visualizations using a variety of tools.
  • Proficient developing dashboards and conducting data analytics using Microsoft Power BI, Oracle SQL Developer, and Microsoft SQL Service Reporting Service.
  • PC proficiency with experience in Microsoft Office applications, with fluent experience in Excel and Microsoft Access and PowerPoint.

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Strong working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) or a comparable language, with the ability to develop, refine and troubleshoot SQL queries.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize projects in time-sensitive situations, paying keen attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Agile, self-motivated learner.
  • Effective oral communication skills, including experience in summarizing results of analyses and communicating detailed information in a concise manner.
  • Effective written communications skills, including the ability to write in an organized and cohesive manner, with some experience drafting report findings and recommendations.
  • Experience with developing and refining database reporting tools.
  • Experience with executing business system test scripts, documenting and reporting testing results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation and political acumen.
