Responsibilities
This position is with the Office of Environmental and Energy Programs, the department that leads Agency sustainability policy, target-setting, reporting, and project/program development and implementation. The Port Authority is the first US transportation agency to align with the Paris Climate Agreement, and this position will play an instrumental role in helping the Agency achieve its climate action ambitions. The Manager, Clean Technology and Innovation (CTI) supporting OEEP in developing and deploying clean energy and technology projects. The Manager, CTI will also lead evaluation and vetting of greenhouse gas-reducing emerging clean technology and solutions and help identify relevant applications for Agency, including alternate project delivery models.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of OEEP, you will have a high level of access and collaboration with the Director of the department, and will be collaborating with other program managers within OEEP in promoting innovation in areas such as alternative fuel vehicles and fueling infrastructure, energy efficiency, renewable energy, smart buildings/smart grid, energy storage, and other clean energy technologies. The Manager, CTI will act as OEEP’s vehicle electrification lead, collaborating with other departments, including Central Automotive Division, Engineering, Finance, and line department staff in Aviation, Tunnels Bridges and Terminals, Ports, PATH and World Trade Center, as well as with external stakeholders.
The Manger, CTI should have experience in project vetting/selection, clean tech/energy deal transactions, and commercial structures in the clean tech/energy space. This is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial candidate seeking to develop and deploy multiple types of energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction projects, and act as an innovation agent within an organization with tremendous potential to advance climate change mitigation and the transition to a low-carbon economy. The Manager, CTI will manage other staff.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for a driven, creative candidate to interface with various Port Authority departments to advance the Agency’s greenhouse gas reduction goals and the roll out of clean energy and technology at the Agency’s NY and NJ facilities.
