Senior Civil Engineer - JFK Redevelopment (project)

Responsibilities

The Senior Engineer will act as the primary point of contact with Program staff, and provide critical guidance and input to all stakeholders regarding preliminary engineering and final design services for infrastructure elements for the Program and to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with the Agency’s quality assurance/quality control and project delivery guidelines while meeting the JFK Redevelopment Program needs.  The successful candidate will apply their experience of pavements, utilities, airfield design, roadway and site design, stormwater management, etc., including design standards and guidelines (e.g. FAA Circulars, ASSHTO, AREMA, to assist in the developing strategies and recommendations related to for portfolio of infrastructure projects associated with the JFK Redevelopment Program.

Responsibilities also include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform review, provide input and comments for Terminal Developer submittals, airfields, roadways and utilities documents and Port Authority enabling projects.
  • Auditing deliverables for scope conformance and quality standards.
  • Support, and provide input for the consultant’s effort including preparing scope of work for RFPs and independent cost estimate, review consultant proposals, project change proposals,
  • Negotiating cost, ensuring schedule/budget compliance auditing deliverables for scope conformance/quality
  • Participate in and/or conduct meetings.

Additional Information:

This is a long-term Project position associated with JFK Airport RedevelopmentThis is expected to last three (3) years with a possible extension. All employees who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. 

Selected candidate will work on-site full time from Four World Trade Center, NY, NY as well as JFK Airport, Queens depending on project specific needs and meetings. 

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university. 
  • Minimum of eight (8) years professional engineering experience in design for civil infrastructure. including any of the following: airfields, stormwater and sanitary sewer collection systems, water distribution systenm, roadway and site design, pavements, or trackwork
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of New York or State of New Jersey.
  • Working knowledge of guidelines and standards such, but not limited to, FAA circulars, AASHTO and AREMA
  • Valid driver's license

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university. 
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in both the State of New York or State of New Jersey.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software application.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving, decision making, negotiations and conflict resolution skills to effectively reach sound conclusions and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple assignments with multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize as required.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of software applications Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
