The Aviation Department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a senior analyst who has demonstrated quantitative, technical, and communication skills with a strong sense of initiative and passion for using data to tell stories and inform decisions.
The Strategic Analysis & Forecasting Team (the Unit) is responsible for collecting passenger, operations, and cargo data from the airlines at JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, and Stewart airports and reporting on it throughout the year via our Oracle based Air Traffic Statistical System (ATSS). The Unit generates short-term and long-term forecasts on activity at our airports for planning and revenue forecasting purposes. Additionally, the Unit conducts research on industry topics related to carrier’s plans regarding flight activity at our airports, and uses the Department’s Aviation Data Analytics Warehouse (ADAW) to produce a series of white papers with analyses that support the Aviation Department's business and strategic plans. The Unit produces analytical products used by all staff within the Department and at PANYNJ airport facilities. The successful candidate must be an excellent multi-tasker and willing to learn new concepts and techniques ranging from forecasting to database design to data visualizations. The job is data intensive and the candidate must be comfortable with numbers.
Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Analysis & Forecasting, the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will play an integral part of the Strategic Analysis & Forecasting Team, specifically in the areas of passenger forecasting & reporting, strategic analysis, and business process improvement. The analyst will work with Aviation Strategy staff and others in the central office as well as our airport managers and staff in a wide variety of areas. On a given day, you may be working on validating and reconciling submitted airline passenger numbers, creating a new Power BI / Tableau report to respond to an ad-hoc data request, forecasting what aircraft fleet will be used over the next two decades, or designing a new Excel template to better improve our workflow.
