Quality Assurance Engineer

Reporting to the Assistant Chief Engineer, Quality Assurance Division and under the direct supervision of the Unit Manager, Construction Standards and Inspection Unit, the successful candidate will perform audits-inspection for Port Authority contracts and tenant construction projects; conduct audits for scheduled acceptance inspection and major tests to recommend the issuance of a Permit to Occupy or Use and Certificate of Completion for Chief Engineer’s signature; prepare Inspections Report in a timely manner to identify non-conforming items and follows up for final disposition; audit field records, including Special Inspection Reports for Port Authority contracts. The selected candidate will be assigned to audit independently multiple projects simultaneously. 


Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years of experience performing new construction inspections in civil, structural and architectural disciplines
  • Five (5) years of experience performing life safety/fire protection systems testing
  • Familiarity with various codes including NYC Building Code & IBC
  • Possess valid driver’s license


Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Possess a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Professional Architect
  • Decision making ability to effectively identify non-conforming items during construction
  • Proficiency and effectiveness in written and oral communication skills are essential as well as being physically fit to climb various types of structures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all level to define problems and devise solutions
  • Self-motivated and experienced to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in use of various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP.
