Staff Accounting Supervisor, Financial Accounting & Reporting

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to Senior Accounting Supervisor, the Staff Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Calculating the monthly amortization associated with pre-paid insurance premiums and self-insurance activity for operating and capital programs as well as Port Authority Insurance Captive Entity (PAICE).
  • Reviewing insurance authorizations for payment; and updating and reconciling the insurance registers to the general ledger. 
  • Reconciling all stand-alone financial statements of PAICE to the Port Authority’s financial statements and general ledger.
  • Consolidating activities of 1 WTC JV LLC with Port Authority books. Reconciling, analyzing and posting consolidating entries in SAP.
  • Reconciling, classifying and analyzing all receipts and expenditures from the Asset Forfeiture Program and ensuring compliance with applicable federal guidelines.
  • Analyzing and reconciling all activity posted in assigned balance sheet accounts for PA insurance programs, receivables, payables, and accrued payroll and PA benefits.
  • Providing support to General Ledger Management Section when requested

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Corporate Finance from an accredited college or university with a minimum of  3 years of relevant work experience.
  • In lieu of bachelor’s degree a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience can be accepted

 

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MS) in accounting or finance related discipline 
  • CPA or CMA
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising  and developing staff
  • Demonstrated experience with SAP in Financial Accounting
