Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Graphics Production Supervisor, the candidate will create engaging and on-brand graphic design projects to promote the Port Authority’s brand and support the design communications needs of client departments.  Visual communications projects may include original two- and three-dimensional graphics designs (e.g., print collateral and displays) for variety of media types. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Define requirements in collaboration with clients
  • Formulate creative solutions, including specifying project style, size, visual imagery for photographs, graphics, and animation
  • Develop communications solutions in the context of target audience e.g. printed media, posters, fliers, brochures, banners, illustrations, electronic media, web design and animation
  • Review and monitor project from concept to completion to ensure quality standards, while maintaining budget and scheduling requirements
  • Ensure positive, professional, competitive and consistent branding for internal and external communications

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of graphic design industry experience
  • Experience and proficiency with layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography and visual design software, including the Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, etc.
  • Ability to storyboard and translate ideas to clients and production staff
  • A digital portfolio that demonstrates design work

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Graphic Design or related field
  • Possess a thorough understanding of working with large-scale graphics, e-marketing, advertising, printing and graphic design
  • Demonstrated ability in the design of brand development, interactive commerce and the creative process
  • Knowledge of print and web design capabilities for integrated campaigns
  • Proficiency in current HTML, CSS and MS Office products
  • Knowledgeable in preparing job specifications for cost estimates and project schedules
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and make evaluative judgements
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending design and new media workshops; reviews professional publications; participates in professional societies
