Coodinator Security Exercise & Training

Responsibilities

The Coordinator, Training and Exercises will report to the General Manager, Emergency Management. The Coordinator will develop and maintain a training program for all Port Authority employees and, where practical, contractors that address the capabilities and the ability to perform their respective roles and responsibilities in their response to incidents /events as a result of emergency situations.

The Coordinator will develop an agency-wide strategic training and exercise program emphasizing Incident Command System (ICS) and its correct utilization, as well as other applicable emergency management training. The Coordinator will continuously evaluate training, and training needs, based on the OEM’s Risk Assessment. Likewise, the Coordinator will assess training needs and/or training objectives as the result of After-Action Reviews (AAR) taken from exercises or actual incidents/events.  The Coordinator will implement corrective actions and best practices resulting from an AAR into an appropriate training and exercise program.

The Coordinator, in conjunction with local, state, federal, non-profit, develop a training program that assimilates their preparedness and response objectives into the OEM exercise program. The Coordinator will, additionally, keep informed of emerging and widening threats and risks to the Port Authority and develop the necessary consequence training. The Coordinator will be the OEM Resource Officer.

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of Emergency Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related degree
  • Five (5) years’ experience in training, exercise or planning at the federal, state and local level within an Emergency Management setting
  • Demonstrated experience in managing technical and administrative staff which will include mentoring and career development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that include making presentations and briefings
  • A working understanding of contract management and related accounting
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem resolution skill
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and Project Management.

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Master’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or related degrees
  • 10 years’ experience in Emergency Management on the federal, state or local government level, with a history of progression in responsibility
  • A record of managing emergency training, exercises or planning programs
