Splunk Security Engineer

Responsibilities

The Port Authority of New York/New Jersey is seeking a Security Engineering professional with Splunk experience to support work related to Splunk Enterprise Security. The right candidate will be deploying, operating, and maintaining Splunk and Splunk Enterprise Security Information Events Management (SIEM). This position is located in Jersey City, NJ.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and Implements innovative Splunk based solutions.
  • Develops processes, procedures, standards and operational plans.
  • Responsible for improving upon existing processes and systems by utilizing critical thinking skills in disseminating information.
  • Provide industry standard expertise in the deployment, configuration, and operations of Splunk and Splunk Enterprise Security.
  • Develops customized dashboards for operations, security and management teams.
  • Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.
  • Support, maintain, and expand Splunk infrastructure in a highly resilient configuration.
  • Integrate Splunk with a wide variety of standard and legacy data sources like IPS Logs, DNS logs, a multitude of log sources, Threat Intel feeds etc.,
  • Participate in other Cyber Security projects as needed
  • Work with other teams in a collaborative effort to support overall security efforts

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Demonstrated experience in Splunk engineering and administration, including Splunk Enterprise Security.
  • 5 or more years of related information technology experience.
  • At least 3+ years of work experience with Splunk real-time processing architecture and deployment.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the upper tier scripting languages. For example, Python, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, Shell Scripting, XML, etc.
  • Experience in software development, system architecture, and/or database.

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Configuration Management experience
  • Python scripting experience
