Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Geotechnical Engineer, the Engineer will be responsible for designs, project schedules, budgets, and cost estimates for the preliminary and final stages for assigned projects.  Working with a senior level Engineer in the Geotechnical Group, the Engineer’s responsibilities shall include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Perform design analyses for various types of foundations, including piling, drilled shafts, spread footings, mats and ground improvement.
  • Perform slope stability analyses.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses to determine behavior of soft ground conditions under various site development alternatives.
  • Prepare Contract Documents, including specifications and supervising CAD personnel in the preparation of geotechnical drawings.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates
  • Evaluate results of field instrumentation, including static and dynamic load tests.
  • Routinely serve as the Geotechnical Task Leader for a project, and as the Lead Engineer for less complex projects.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Possess a Masters Degree in Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Possess a minimum of five (5) years of geotechnical design experience
  • Possess a valid driver license

Desired

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Have a Professional Engineer (PE) license from either the state of NY or NJ
  • Possess excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Possess problem solving and decision-making skills, as evidenced from experience in performance of engineering analyses.
  • Possess knowledge of geotechnical construction methods.
  • Have experience monitoring budget expenditures and design schedules
  • Knowledgeable about Microsoft software, geotechnical software programs such as PLAXIS, Pile Group, LPile, and GRLWeap, and familiar with AutoCAD
