Associate Civil Engineer

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Principal Civil Engineer, the Associate Engineer, will be responsible to serve as a technical discipline task lead for delivering civil engineering studies and designs of varying complexity. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Self-perform civil engineering preliminary and final design services that conform to the Port Authority’s applicable design standards/guidelines and codes. Designs would include roadway geometry, storm drainage and sanitary systems, utilities, airfield and roadway pavements, and grading
  • Prepare Contract Documents consisting of drawings, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Assist in preparing the civil engineering scope of work, schedule and budget for a project.
  • Perform facility site inspections.

Qualifications

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university
  • Minimum of two (2) years civil engineering experience including any of the following: stormwater and sanitary sewer collection systems, roadway geometry, pavements, or water supply system
  • Working knowledge of AutoCad and Civil 3D design software application
  • Proficient in the use of software applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver's license

Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving to effectively reach sound conclusions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks or assignments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize as required.
  • Good oral communication, including experience in making presentations, and written communication skills commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
