The TEC Network Operations Team provides a 24/7 service for monitoring network status, reviewing performance, and mitigating service interruptions.  Under the direction of the Data Center Manager, the candidate will be responsible for:

All of the environmental, electrical, mechanical, security, fire protection and facility planning aspects of the Computer Operations Division at the Teleport Data Center. The Computer Operations Support Specialist will supervise the work of all contracting staff, schedule equipment installation, and oversee equipment maintenance. The selected candidate will also research and develop operations procedures, policies, manuals and other documentation on a variety of operation issues; conduct special projects as assigned; and develop and maintain relationships with facility management in order to identify, address, and resolve issues.


Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in Network Operations
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of Data Center security systems and practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of environmental control systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of electrical power systems (UPS’s, PDU’s, diesel generator) etc.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of fire detection and suppression systems
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in all phases of Data Center Operations in a multi-vendor hardware environment.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must to able to respond to emergencies; work off-hours as needed.


Ideal candidates will present the following profile:

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Visio, Excel, Word, Outlook, and experience manipulating data with the use of MS Applications are desired.
  • Knowledge and experience of large-scale computers and related peripheral equipment, as well as scheduling techniques for a production job-processing environment.
  • Knowledge of job scheduling packages (CA-7, Maestro).
  • Knowledge of Change Management procedures.
